What if you could win a spot on a big festival stage? For its first edition, Crazy New Year Festival opened up one of its artist slots to the public through a DJ Contest. At the end of the adventure: victory for Djirz, propelled onto the Ekinox stage to open the night of 31 December.
A springboard for emerging talent
The concept was open to every DJ: record a 30-minute mix, upload it to Soundcloud or Mixcloud and submit it to the festival. The accepted styles covered the festival’s whole spectrum: Hardstyle, Hard Techno, Tekno and Rawstyle.
The goal? To give the emerging scene a real showcase and give pride of place to a new talent, alongside the international headliners.
The audience decided
Once applications closed, the organisers shortlisted the best profiles, then left the final decision… to the community. The vote took place online, through likes, in a friendly but hard-fought atmosphere.
“All the participants were brilliant and delivered top-level performances. Now it’s up to you to decide.”
At the end of the contest, it was Djirz who won the most votes. A well-deserved reward for an artist who managed to rally and convince.
A victory sealed on stage
The best was yet to come: on 31 December, Djirz had the honour ofopening the festival. Starting the New Year on a stage of this size, in front of an already fired-up crowd: the kind of moment that defines a career.
This first edition proved it: at Crazy New Year, the stage also belongs to those who dare. Something to inspire future candidates for the next editions.
